Blog Tour: Once in a Lifetime - Jill Shalvis

Following from my review of Once in a Lifetime that I posted last week, I have the excitement of taking part in a blog tour with Jill Shalvis herself, including an interesting Q&A and the chance to win your own copy of Once in a Lifetime!

Review: This is a Love Story - Jessica Thompson

This is a love story.
Boy meets girl and girl falls for boy - that much is true.
But when Sienna meets Nick it's not the way it happens in love stories. It's because of a squirrel on water skis...
She sees Nick's dangerous brown eyes and thinks,
Don't.
Fall.
Into.
Them.
Who will be there to catch Siena when she falls? She is so fragile. She has so many secrets, and he is not that serious.
Funny and sad, this is the story of two people destined never to come together in the great love affair they crave more than anything else.

Have you ever started a book and just known that you won't be able to go to sleep until you know the fate of all those involved? It can't just be me surely. This is a Love Story was started innocently enough in the evening as a little wind-down before bed and wasn't put down until 4am when I was bleary eyed but safe in the knowledge that I'd reached the conclusion and knew that all was as it should be.

Review: Once in a Lifetime (Lucky Harbour) - Jill Shalvis*

SOMETIMES WRONG IS OH-SO-RIGHT
After a wrenching loss, Ben McDaniel tried to escape his grief by working in dangerous, war-torn places like Africa and the Middle East. Now he's back in his hometown and face-to-face with Aubrey Wellington, the hot-as-hell woman who is trouble with a capital T. Family and friends insist she's not the one to ease his pain, but Aubrey sparks an intense desire that gives Ben hope for the future.
Determined to right the wrongs of her past, Aubrey is working hard to make amends. But by far, the toughest challenge to her plan is sexy, brooding Ben - even though he has absolutely no idea what she's done . . .
Can this unlikely couple defy the odds and win over the little town of Lucky Harbor?

Once in a Lifetime is the ninth and latest instalment in Jill Shalvis's much beloved 'Lucky Harbour' series and, shamefully, a first in the series for me. However, on finishing it I promptly went out and read the two preceding books. Yes, I loved it.

Mini-view: Be Mine - Jennifer Crusie, Victoria Dahl and Shannon Stacey

Sizzle by Jennifer Crusie Business takes a backseat when successful ad executive Emily Tate meets Richard Parker. He's an accountant who's been sent to keep her in line and under budget in her ad campaign for a sensual new perfume called Sizzle. And if Emily's not careful, she could well melt in Richard's hands.
Too Fast to Fall by Victoria DahlFor Jenny Stone, driving is her escape-from her past, her problems, her quiet life in Jackson Hole. But after Deputy Nate Hendricks stops her-again-for speeding, she could lose more than just her license. She could lose her heart. Nate seems to think that Jenny should replace her love for fast driving with something even more...heart pumping. And despite her need for speed, Jenny's never been one for defying the law.
Alone With You by Shannon Stacey When waitress Darcy Vaughan's friend asks her to help out with the launch of a fledgling restaurant, she's happy to oblige. Little does she know the owner is Jake Holland, the perfect guy who slipped through her fingers after their one night of passion. But for Darcy and Jake, one touch was just not enough.

That's right, it's that day again. But come on, if nothing else it's the perfect excuse to curl up and read a good book (maybe with some chocolate too). You guys know how much I like short story collections, how good they are for reading on the go or for a cheeky pick me up on your lunch-break. Firstly, I think we have to discuss how Be Mine is perhaps the Holy Grail of anthologies with three stories from three of my favourite authors. While it's not new, it was actually released last year for Valentine's, it's new to me - somehow managing to slide under my radar.

Review: Bitten (Women of the Otherworld #1) - Kelley Armstrong

Elena Michaels is a werewolf. She tries to be human, but the man whose bite changed her existence forever, and his legacy, continue to haunt her. Thrown into a desperate war for survival that tests her allegiance to a secret clan of werewolves, Elena must reconsider who and what she is.

Something a bit new for me today on the blog, coinciding nicely with the start of the adaptation currently airing in North America on SyFy (Ok, so it actually started three-ish weeks ago, but you can't blame me for being behind, the UKs not getting it for a while). While Bitten has been on my to read list for some time I've never quite managed to get round to it.

Review: The Unpredictable Consequences of Love - Jill Mansell

When Josh Strachan, newly returned to his home in north Cornwall from sunny California, first meets Sophie Wells, he's immediately smitten. Sophie's pretty, she's funny, she has lots of friends and she clearly loves her job as a photographer, despite the sometimes tricky clients. There's just one problem: Sophie has very firmly turned her back on love. It's nothing personal, she tells Josh, but she just doesn't do dates. And no one - even Sophie's scatty best friend Tula - will tell him why. Josh is sure Sophie likes him, though, and he's just got to find out what's put her off romance. And then put things right.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that Jill Mansell's latest was featured prominently in my most anticipated reads of 2014 and, as I predicted, I greedily devoured it within 24 hours of release. Ooops...

Bargain Read: What a Rancher Wants - Sarah M Anderson*

When it comes to the Texas Cattleman's Club, what a rancher wants, a rancher gets...
Nothing's come easy to Chance McDaniel since his best friend betrayed him. And when the deception explodes into a Texas-sized scandal, his best friend's sister, Gabriella del Toro, shows up to pick up the pieces. Now Chance's luck is about to change. He wants this innocent beauty, and seducing her has become his top priority.
Gabriella's sheltered upbringing has always left her wanting more. Now, with this rich rancher, she sees a chance to break free. But will the web of deception her family has woven ensnare her yet again?
Firstly, an apology, I've been so bogged down with my degree and my job that I haven't had much time to blog or even to read this last month, but I'm back and I'm making it up to you with a bargain read. Aren't I the best?
