Blog: Liebster Award

So, I've been away for a while and what better way to ease my way back into blogging than with a little tag thing. The Liebster Award is an award that is given by bloggers to other bloggers, a way of supporting little blogs that you love to read. I was nominated by the lovely Katie Thompson at Into the Bookcase, one of my favourite blogs, so I'd definitely recommend that you go over and give her reviews a read (as well as her own answers to the Liebster Award). To Be Read - April/May

If you follow me on twitter (I'm going to keep mentioning this until you follow me so you might as well just do it now) you'll know that I am currently in deadline hell and am substituting some review posts with blog posts. Today I thought I'd expand more on my TBR 'pile' (a bit euphemistic, it's more of a TBR bookcase at this point) which I talk about a lot. Most of you will know that TBR stands for 'to be read' and I thought I'd share some of the books languishing on that list today.

Most Anticipated Romances of 2014 (so far)

I am so excited about the upcoming year in terms of book releases so I thought I'd share some of my most anticipated reads of 2014 (so far). I decided to be quite disciplined and not pick anything that comes out in the latter part of the year as it is just too long to wait! Top 5 Romances of 2013

Ok, admittedly I am still in a Christmas induced food coma and haven't had that much time to do any reading or reviewing, but I thought that it'd be a nice way to wrap up the year with a quick overview of some of my favourite romances of 2013.

Book Week Scotland

It's Book Week in Scotland which means that there are a lot of fun things to do out and about around the country, but for those of you who don't live in Scotland there are fun things to do online too! Yes, I am talking about book quizzes.

I love a good book quiz, and a good bit of procrastination, so when the 'Who in Fiction Are You?' quiz popped up on my Facebook newsfeed I knew I had to give it a go. I love a good, fun personality quiz and I always dither over the answers but this time I fired right through and got a fairly interesting result. Intrigued?

Read - A - Romance Month

August is national Read - A - Romance Month (RARM) so to celebrate that I thought that I would do something a little different on the blog this week and talk in the defence of romance and why I read and love romance novels.

Hiatus

Apologies for my extended absence everyone, I've been visiting my father in the wilds of nowhere and he shuns all this new fangled modern technology, including the internet! I know, I was shocked too. However he does get beautiful scenery, so I suppose it's ok.

Twitter

I know, I know - I'm attempting to take over the internet. After a few suggestions from more internet savvy friends I've decided to get a twitter account. This will be useful for tweeting links to bargain reads as well as the occasional live tweeting of what I read. I hope you guys can bear with me while I learn to use twitter and you can share in the hilarity here.

Edit: somebody more in the know that I has chastised me for not including my twitter 'handle' (how's that for a euphemism?). It's @RReadsRomance if anyone cares to join me. Rx

Tumblr

Look at me, I've gone all social networking crazy!

To reach as many romance readers as possible I've decided to say goodbye to all productivity and join Tumblr. If you're not on Tumblr and need a distraction (a very big distraction, this thing will take over your life) I suggest you join, tout de suite.

I can be found here, my 'ask' is open so you can drop me a question anytime (anonymously if you feel like adding some mystery). There are some great blogs on Tumblr so I may occasionally tell you all about them here to encourage you to go seek them out. In the meantime, Eloisa James is on Tumblr and her ask box is open! Tumblr is a great, informal way to reach out to readers and I hope more authors jump on the bandwagon.

Goodreads

I now have a Goodreads account uniquely affiliated with this blog. This makes it a bit easier for me to rate books in terms of the traditional 'stars' and also offers an easier way for you all to recommend books to me and keep up with what I am currently reading.

In order to set my Goodreads off to a decent start I have rated some romance books I've read in the past. However, a lot of these I read in the distant past so I cannot really recall the extent to which I liked them or not. Consequently, I am going to set about attempting to re-read the majority of those that I have already read (gulp) in order to give them a more accurate personal rating as well as an in-depth review for your reading pleasure.
